CALS-Affiliate, Howard Giles, wins Outstanding Book Award
Dr. Giles is recognized for his 2022 book "Communication for Successful Aging: Empowering Individuals Across the Lifespan” alongside his co-authors Jessica Gasiorek, Sharde Davis, and Jane Giles.

The book discusses the authors’ suggestions in communication for successful aging, explaining that managing aging is not so much about how you think, or how old you feel, but rather how "old" you communicate and are communicated to. The National Communication Association's (NCA) Communication & Aging (CAD) Division praised the book for its being “nicely grounded in leading-edge theory.” Dr. Giles was recipient of the Inaugural Book Award in 2015 and the Inaugural Outstanding Journal Article Award in 2015 and 2022.
