Launch of the Center for Aging and Longevity Studies
CALS is recognized as a major new multidisciplinary research center at UCSB and in California.
The Center for Aging and Longevity Studies (CALS) was recently recognized as California’s newest research center devoted to the science of aging and longevity. The article highlighted why CALS is unique as a research center: It is amazingly multidisciplinary, with 30 affiliated faculty and more than 300 CALS-affiliated researchers from over 15 academic departments and institutes at UCSB and other institutions. Researchers from, for example, biology, psychology, neuroscience, communication, anthropology, and cultural studies are all working together to better understand the perils and promises associated with growing older in today's society.
CALS will have its Grand Opening Event on April 6th at 5:30pm at the Music Academy. This Grand Opening Event is free. Seats are limited. A reservation is required. To RSVP contact: cals@longevity.ucsb.edu.
