Denise Montell Wins NIH Pioneer Award

CALS-affiliate from the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, Denise Montell, has been awarded her second NIH Pioneer Award, receiving $5.5 million to support her cutting-edge research in immune therapy. This prestigious recognition is part of the NIH’s High-Risk, High-Reward Research program, which funds bold and innovative scientific projects. Montell, who first earned the award in 2014, will use the funding to advance her team’s work on a revolutionary cancer treatment and therapies for diseases like antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections.
