March 6, 2025

The film explores Charlie Hess's journey with early onset Alzheimer’s disease while sharing perspectives from researchers to better understand and treat neurodegenerative disorders. It features insights from Dr. Kosik's research through examining the processes that contribute to Alzheimer’s and the ongoing efforts to advance diagnosis and therapies for it. In addition to research on Alzheimer's the Kosik Lab explores the biological processes behind numerous other brain functions and dysfunctions.

This film allows current research to reach a broader audience and highlights the role of collaboration in addressing Alzheimer's as patients, researchers, producers, and cinematographers come together to raise awareness on Alzheimer's while diminishing it's stigma. The screening at SBIFF provided an opportunity to connect the public with ongoing scientific work at UCSB.
