Diana Thomas

Overview

Diana is a life-long learner and educator. She retired after 35 years with the Santa Barbara School District with a distinction of “Highly Qualified Teacher” in: Biology, Social Sciences, History, Dance, Physical Education, and Health. She won numerous awards for her teaching, including California Teacher of the Year from The Consortium for Independent Study, and a Rotary Club Award for outstanding and special services to school and students. Her compassion for and devotion to the surrounding community is palpable, as noted by her Volunteer of the Year award from Transition House in Santa Barbara. Diana's leadership and administrative experience as a Founder of Santa Barbara City College/Alta Vista Middle College, and as a past Board of Directors member for Hope Counseling Center in Santa Barbara are invaluable as she's come out of retirement to join the CALS team.
