Research Overview

Professor Peters studies mortality and morbidity through development of statistical modelling approaches. This includes in sample data analysis and forecasting of mortality and morbidity. The methods employed develop spatial temporal state space modelling methods to integrate information from environmental factors, deprivation factors, cohort effects, period effects to understand the age based term structure of mortality and morbidity. Furthermore, there is a general interest in economic and econometric modelling of demographics and its interaction with retirement planning, funding and policy. Other areas of focus have also included study of specific disease and cause of death effects on mortality and morbidity.
